Vocabulary

state (n): 1-a condition or way of being that exists at a particular time:
E.g.: The building was in a state of disrepair.
E.g.: She was found wandering in a confused state (of mind).

proverb (n): 1-a short statement, usually known by many people for a long time, that gives advice or expresses some common truth:
E.g.: A Chinese proverb says that the longest journey begins with a single step.

betray (v): to not be loyal to your country or a person, often by doing something harmful such as helping their enemies:
E.g.: He was accused of betraying his country during the war.
E.g.: She felt betrayed by her mother’s lack of support.

melt (v): to turn from something solid into something soft or liquid, or to cause something to do this:
E.g.: The snow usually melts by mid March.
E.g.: Melt the chocolate slowly so that it doesn’t burn.

onomatopoeic (adj):拟声的, (of a word) sounding similar to the noise the word refers to:
E.g.: The word “click” is onomatopoeic in itself.
