de-escalate (v): to (cause to) become less dangerous or difficult

E.g.: The government has taken these measures in an attempt to de-escalate the conflict.

interest rate (n): the interest percent that a bank or other financial company charges you when you borrow money, or the interest percent it pays you when you keep money in an account

lend (v): If a bank or other organization lends money, it gives money to someone who agrees that they will pay the money back in the future, usually with extra money added to the original amount.
