Writing exercise

1) Write about what families usually experience when travelling to another city/country during the National Holidays.

In China, we have National holidays in October. The weather is good during that month. It is not very hot and not very cold so it is suitable for travelling. Usually, adults have to go to work and children have to go to school. They are free only on holidays. Due to this reason, most families would choose to travel to another city during the National Holidays. They enjoy themselves and relax by travelling. Because lots of people choose to travel during this time so families will encounter many problems. The biggest problem is that there are too many people everywhere. Many people gather around tourist attractions. It becomes too noisy. Sometimes the crowd will affect people’s mood. You can imagine that when you have a meal in a famous restaurant and you have to wait for one hour or more. It is too terrible. Also, it becomes difficult to book hotels or buy tickets for famous attractions News reports show us every famous scene with many people/large crowds. If families drive themselves then they will be in a traffic jam, too.

2) Tell me about your trip over the holidays.

During this National Holiday, we went to camping with two other families. Because my kid’s school notified us to not leave Shanghai so we chose a place far away from downtown. We built a tent and we sat around a table. That day happened to be the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival. We ate moon cakes to celebrate the festival. We slept in the tent that day. What a beautiful night!
