Vocabulary

1. sore throat= when you have pain in the throat
ex: Sore throat is often accompanied with flu.

2. annual pass= 年卡
ex: We bought an annual pass for Disneyland.

3.merry-go-around= the little horses going around in circles
ex: My son loves merry-go-around.

4. roller coaster= go up and down super fast in a ride
ex: Lily and GaoYan hate roller coasters.

5. facial expression= expressions you have on your face, ex: smirking, raise eyebrows, wink
ex: Many people have exaggerated facial expressions.

Speaking exercise

My son has past 3 years, I think he’s not that healthy about his throat, because of the seasons in Shanghai. In Spring or Autumn, he always have flu and diarrhea. in 2019, he has been 3 years old, he consulted traditional Chinese medicine, he got better after he see them.

My son is very happy, the tree is green, we can go to Disneyland. “We can see Mickey, we can go play merry-go-around, we can go see princess!”

For the past three years, my son suffers from sore throat due to the seasons in Shanghai. In Spring and Autumn, he always has flu and diarrhea. in 2019, he turned 3 , we consulted traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), he got better after seeing the doctor/ he recovered after seeing the doctor. 

My son is very happy, spring is here, the trees are green. He told me “ we can go to Disneyland. We can see Mickey, we can go play merry-go-around, we can go see the princess!”

Reading

When we communicate with others, we express our thoughts and feelings not only through the words we choose, but also through our tone of voice, facial expression and body language. In fact, many communications experts believe that far more information is communicated non-verbally (without words) than verbally (with words). “Body language” is an important part of non-verbal communication.
