1.light= describe someone’s skin color
ex: you have light/ fair skin.

2.tanned= 晒黑
ex: I got tanned after my trip to XiZang.
ex: I usually get tanned in summer because I go out more and dress less.

3. dress code= what everyone agrees to wear
ex: there’s no dress code in SE, we could wear what we want.
ex: what is the dress code for the party?

4.semi-formal= 50% formal
ex: the dress code is semi-formal, please dress appropriately to the party.

5. race= 种族
racist= people who don’t like another race
ex: Most Americans are racist because they think they are the best.

6. regional discrimination= when people from different places (cities) don’t like each other
ex: Regional discrimination is a serious problem in China.

7. first-tier city= 一线城市
second-tier city= 二线城市
ex: HZ is a second tier city with very high expense.
ex: Zhen Zhou is the “new first-tier city”.

8. prone to XX= 倾向于XX
ex: New mothers are more prone to depression.

9. prefer (verb)= like something more
preference (noun)
ex: I prefer girls (over boys)
ex: I have a preference for girls.

10. in a rush
ex: I’m always in a rush in the morning.
