Are millennials hard to manage?

In my real case, if you want to manage an employee, who’s age is more than you and have more experience and long service year in company, such people is very difficult to manage. I have a subordinate, she is 6 years older than me. When I entered into this company, my job level was lower than her, but now after 7 years, I promote for 3 levels so I can manage her because she has no any promotion in 6 years. I feel very uncomfortable, when you want to assign some tasks to her, especially when I want to change her mind. she only respects me on the surface, but she feels unfair, it’s very hard to manager her in any way. My subordinates never listen to me, they always have opinions when I talk to them. So far, I can only give them free space.

My subordinates never listen to me, they always have opposing opinions when I talk to them. So far, I can only give them their private space.

Personality

we teach our employee how to identify one’s personality in a quick way. DISC is a personality analyze tool, it stands for dominant influence steadiness compliance. Based on the DISC model, you should know the different meaning of the four kind of people. We have a matrix, we can put four kinds of people in the matrix. In China, we also use a color to describe the four different personalities. For the dominated people, we used yellow. Use red to describe influence people, because they have a lot of passion and want to influence others. Use blue to describe compliance people because they always think for others. Use green to describe the steady people, because they are in a peace. So we have a short example to describe the four different people. Suppose we have 10 people in a classroom, now we need to discuss where to go have dinner. It’s hard to discuss out the result, maybe at this time, the yellow people will stand out and say “now we go to have hotpot”, at the same time, the blue people will ask a lot of questions. For the green people, they always say ok, no opinion. For the red people, maybe they have different opinions and will give a lot of different choice. Most people are red. How can we distinguish the personalities in a quick way? Maybe you need to observe her behavior in her daily work, maybe the speed for someone to make a decision. You maybe need to observe a person, she is focused on result or respect when she makes a decision.

We teach our employee how to identify one’s personality in a quick way. DISC is a personality analyze tool, it stands for dominant influence steadiness compliance. Based on the DISC model, you should know the differences of the four kinds of people. We have a matrix, we can put four kinds of people in the matrix. In China, we also use colors to describe the four different personalities. For the dominated people, we used yellow. Red is used to describe influencial people, because they have a lot of passion and want to influence others. Blue is used to describe compliance people because they always think for others. Green is used to describe the steady people, because they are peace-loving/ inner peace. So we have a short example to describe the four different people. Suppose we have 10 people in a classroom, now we need to discuss where to go have dinner. It’s hard to carry out the result/ come to a conclusion, maybe at this time, the yellow people will stand out and say “now we should have hotpot”, at the same time, the blue people will ask a lot of questions. For the green people, they always say ok, no opinion. For the red people, maybe they have different opinions and will give a lot of different choices. Most people are red. If you want to quickly distinguish a personality, you need to observe their behavior in their daily work, such as the speed in which they make a decision. You may need to observe a person, to see whether she’s result-oriented, or respect-oriented. After that, you can use a matrix to define their personality.Â
