1. detention= stay after class for 30 mins. 留堂
ex:Peter was not a good student, he always had detention.. hahahha
ex: I talk with my teachers in my detention.

2. punishment(noun)= if you do something bad, you will get punished惩罚
punish (verb)
ex: I threw away the breakfast that my mom made for me, and she punished me for it.
ex: I punished my brother for stealing my money.
ex: I often get punishment from my teacher, because I’m always late for school.

3. pills= medicines 药
ex: Did you take your pills? 
ex: Yes I took my pills.

4. excuse (noun)= the reason why you did something 借口／理由
ex: I always need to make up excuses 编造理由 when I’m late for school
ex: What’s your excuse for not picking up your phone?

5. monitor= 显示屏
ex: I want to buy a big monitor for my laptop.
ex: I don’t have a monitor in my dorm, I only have a laptop.

6. bunk bed= a bed on top + a bed at the bottom
ex: I don’t have a bunk bed in my dorm.

7. sneak in =偷偷进来
sneak out = 偷偷溜出去
ex: No one can sneak in the girl’s dorm.
ex: Lily always sneaks out of her house at night.

8. curfew= a set time to come back宵禁
ex: the curfew for our dorm is 11pm.
ex: My parents never gave me a curfew. 

9. crack/ cracked (verb)= 裂
ex: The egg finally cracked today.
ex: my screen cracked, I have to go to Apple to replace one.

10. weird (adj)= 很奇怪
ex: He’s so weird today, he’s not talking to anyone.
ex: Apple has a weird policy, you have to pay for the screen even within one year of warranty.
