1,Write about 100 words on the following topic:

You are Vice president of CME. Make a presentation about the company’s financial performance for your investors.

Good morning everyone. My name is Xing. I am Vice president of CME. Today I would like to introduce our financial performance to you.
First of all, please see the chart which is the current 3 years financial report. (2017-2020)
In 2018, the total sales amount of our products is one billion. In 2019, the total sales amount of our products is two billion. In 2020, the total sales amount of our products is one billion.
Compared with in 2018, we experienced a 100% increase in 2019. Over the last years
Our market share is doing very well. Unfortunately, Due to the COVID-19 has attacked(æŒç»­æ”»å‡»æ˜¯å†™has been attached?) humans. Our total sales amount returned to the initial figure in 2020, which figures were equal at 2018. It is expected that there is a steady increase in 2012 if the COVID-19 moves away from humans.
So that’s my presentation, thanks.

In 2018, the total amount of sales of our products was one billion. In 2019, the total amount of sales of our products was two billions. In 2020, the total amount of sales of our products was one billion. Compared to 2018, we experienced a 100% increase in 2019. Over the last few years, our business has been doing very well. However, since the COVID-19 outbreak. our total amount of sales this year has declined and returned to the initial figure back in 2018. It is expected that there would be a steady increase in 2021 if COVID-19 is kept under control. 

2,Write a brief report in about 100 words on the negotiation between Kathy and Giovanni over the trade of wine from Spain.

Kathy: Hello Giovanni, we would like to import 1000 boxes wine form Spain. Could you give me the best price? We did our research regarding consumers’ preferences. 70% of our consumers like wines from Spain and they like its unique taste. The wine is a new product for us in China. We want to grow our local wine market. 

Giovanni: That sounds like a great idea. In order to grow your market. We decide to give you a 40% discount for 1000 boxes of wine. If in the next six months, you place another order for 1000 boxes, I would give you the same discount and also give you an additional 200 boxes wines for free.

Kathy: Thank you! That’s a wonderful deal and we would like to take it. 
Giovanni: Hope our partnership can be a long-lasting one.

3,Proposal Writing: Your company is moving from the city center to LinGang, Pudong District. You are required to investigate the possible problems of relocation and to propose a solution. Write a proposal in about 200 words.

We are ready moving office in next Friday. We need to check cars, employees, etc… is available. We need to make a list which goods should be moving. Who responsible for what?

And in the new office, there are 4 people standby there. We need to check with the estate management what time we can move our furniture. What’s the document we should sign.

Potential problems:

  • miscommunication between staff and movers
      • lack of coordination
      • tight deadline 
      • inefficient communication with all employees 
      • lack of coordination with building management in the new office

Solutions:
– make sure the moving trucks are ready 

– prepare the right documents to sign (ex: the lease, any legal documents) 

– confirm time of the move and reserve the elevator for the move

– coordinate employees on both sides 

– confirm with employees regarding their own equipment (desktop, cabinets, personal items)

– assign employees to help with the move (all employees have the day off, they will clean and pack their own desks in the morning and will help out with the move in the afternoon) 

4,Part Four: Case Analysis

When Brandon Hunt was sent to Mexico to oversee a production facility for his company, he became concerned over what he perceived to be a lack of seriousness about work on the part of Mexican workers. Employees were frequently late for work, left early, or did not come in at all. When questioned, employees explained that they had to help their family members with their problems.
Explain the apparent difference in American and Mexican attitudes to work, analyze the problem and provide your suggestion or solution

In my opinions, there are two main reasons. Fist one, they don’t have a good management policy. Second one, there isn’t a good leader. I think we should arrange a meeting for all employees and one by one to talk about their thinks. Only in this way can we deal with the problem.

In America, we have a good office policy. We are required that work time is 9am- 6pm. If we are late, we should send a message to team leader or administrative for apologize. We are very clearly known what’s our responsibilities.

The apparent differences in American and Mexican attitudes to work:

  • difference in work ethics and mentalities 
    • Americans: work hard play hard, workhaholics, the American dream 
    • Mexicans: take it easy, take the time to enjoy life and work is only a part of it, long work hours, non-fixed schedules
    • differences in their concept of time

Suggestion or solution

  • lack of communication between the American side and the Mexican side of the company and staff 
  • lack of proper company policy regarding punctuality and work time 
  • lack of clear explanation regarding the consequences of missing work, late for work or left early
  • I think we should arrange a meeting for all employees to discuss the cultural differences and what they think about the new policy.
