Vocabulary

Script 剧本 – something that actors read and repeat it while performing

Diverse – lots of different things/types
eg. China has a very diverse geography because it is on the ocean, has many mountains, forests, lakes, rivers, etc.
eg. Canada has a very diverse population.
eg. Chinese cuisine is very diverse from the noodles in the North to the rice in the South.

Empty stomach – to not have eaten any food
eg. If I drink coffee on an empty stomach, then it will not sit well with me.

Canteen – 食堂 a place to get food inside a school or company

Portion – the size or amount of food given for one meal
eg. Often the portion sizes in America are much bigger then what is recommended.
eg. Portions of food in the North are much more generous than the South.

Quality over quantity – a little of something really good is better then a lot of something that’s just okay
eg. We should order from this restaurant, the portions are really big. —> Is the food good because I prefer quality over quantity.
eg. When writing a paper, its the quality of the words that matter, not the quantity.
eg. For girls, the quality of their clothes is more important than the quantity.
eg. China has become famous for selling cheap goods to the West, but they are not known for their quality.

Before I went to this hospital, I worked as a HR assistant and I used to want to find a job which related to HR. But when I got the offer from this hospital, there is only administration. I think if I start work in this hospital, there may be some chance to change my position. So I choose this position instead of HR. At first I don’t like this job (it) because my supervisor is not a kindly person but luckily she quited this job because hospital moved.
