Vocabulary

Plunk – to go down/or put something down quickly
eg. You can plunk your bag down over there on the table.

Figure – a picture/image
eg. In figure 1, you can see the image of the garden.

Figured – to think something for a reason (almost the same as thought)
eg. Because I have class everyday at 1pm, so I figured/thought today I would as well.

Permanent – to not have an end
eg. This is my permanent job.
eg. I have a contract with this company so I am not a permanent employee.

Accrue – keep/collect/save something like vacation days
eg. If you don’t use your vacation days this year then you can accrue them for next year.

Severe – something is very serious or bad
eg. You have a severe case of food poisoning
eg. This guys condition is very severe

Speaking exercise

I graduated from university with a master degree in 2013. My instructor liked me favorite much, she is a famous professor, but she is retired now. She gave me many/some opportunities to communicate with other universities. I have been to Beijing for 2 months. I like Beijing very much but Beijing air pollution is very severe.

There was something wrong with his leg. It burned. But it burned in one spot only. He didn’t know what was wrong. The spot was smaller than a dime. It was on the back of his leg.
