Vocabulary

Bi-monthly – something that happens two times a month (every two weeks)
Bi-annually – something that happens two times a year (every six months)

ascend – to go up
eg. Christians believe if they are good, then they will ascend to heaven.
descend – to go down
descent – to go downwards
eg. The pilot just said our airplane will begin its descent into Kaohsiung.

Bucks （Canada/USA) = 块
dollars = 元 

Predicament – a bad, tough, difficult, unpleasant situation
eg. China is in a bit of a predicament (bad situation) because of domestic and international financial problems.

leap – to jump

gang – 帮
eg. the gang of four tried to take power after Mao passed away.

paramount – to be the most important part of something
eg. Deng Xiaoping was the paramount leader of China after 1978.
