Vocabulary

Opium – a very strong drug that was popular in HK because of the British
eg. China had two Opium wars with the foreign nations that tried to control China.

Tobacco – inside cigarettes

Romantic/romance – something connected to love

Chick flick – a movie that mostly girls watch (girly movie)
Chick – a pretty girl
Flick – a movie/film

Fairytale – 童话 a story for children that will teach them a lesson for life
eg.

Honest (adj) – describes someone who tells the truth and doesn’t lie
eg. He a very honest guy so I think you can trust him.

Monk – someone who lives in a temple (often from the buddhist or taoist religion)
Buddhism – 佛教
Taoism – 道教

Witness (as a verb) – almost the same as saw
eg. Yesterday, I witnessed a large earthquake.
eg. Yesterday, I witnessed Croatia win the FIFA.

Grammar

I remember an earthquake that happened in 2012
Do you remember the earthquake of 2012 (We can use ‘the‘ and ‘of’ because this earthquake is famous)
