Vocabulary
Was work quiet today – was work busy?
Dull [adj] – boring
eg. I think watching the Chinese opera is very dull.
Theatre – a place where people perform plays, opera, etc, also can be studied as a major in university
Not edible/non edibles – things that can not be eaten
Cracking down – being my strict about fixing a problem (getting rid of a problem)
eg. I am cracking down on small grammar mistakes
eg. The government is cracking down on illegal activities
Corruption – People in a position of power (head of a company or in the government) getting money or something else to do something unfair or against the law.
eg. Corruption in China is obvious when some government officials have 5 kids (not allowed more then 1)
eg. My friend was very corrupt and the police caught him and arrested him.
Bribe – taking money/gifts to do something unfair or illegal
eg. He got a bribe to pretend he didn’t see someone break the law.
Extorted – someone has a power over you and uses it to take advantage over you
eg. The police threatened to arrest me if I didn’t give him money. So he extorted me for $100.

eg. I left my office for an English lesson
from vs for – Here is the sales from our department/Here is the sales for our department
To – shows a change in location, possession, etc or start a new action
eg. I am going to English class.
eg. I left my office to go to English class
eg. I have to do exercise
eg. I went to the hospital to see a doctor
eg. I need to put (do a new action) the clothes out to (outside your home) dry
Of – to connected it to something specific/exclude it from other things
eg. I will meet you outside of the theatre.
eg. I am tired of doing overtime
eg.My stomach is full of food
eg. The reason I come here is because of my English level is not good enough for my daily work.
