Practice the Interview below with Elena, without letting her see the script and give her feedback.

Vocabulary

Juggle- When a clown throws three balls in the air and tries to keep them there. Can also be used as an expression to mean multitasking.

e.g. When I was younger, I juggled full time studies and a part time job and still found time to go to the gym.

Improvise- When you didn’t plan something and have to do it spontaneously. (Wing it has the same meaning, without any preparation)

e.g. When our supplier for the event cancelled on us last minute, we were forced to improvise and prepare the food ourselves.

e.g. I didn’t prepare for my interview, I’m just going to wing it.

Spontaneously/Spontaneous- To do something suddenly.

e.g. My husband is very spontaneous, he’ll ask me to get on a plane and fly somewhere the same day.

About Buying
In my point of view, buying is a complicated work about balancing. You have to balance the Fashion and the market, you need to lead the trend as well as to make profit from it . Balance the budget and cost,You have to keep a balance between thousands of tasks and limited time, to deal with a tough schedule, decide the priority.

Introduction
My name is Fu Chengjie and you can call me Elena. I studied at the Polimoda Institute in Florence and graduated in 2013 with a Master’s Degree in Fashion Brand Management. In the last part of my studies, I did an internship at Chanel China as a training assistant. After that, I was hired by a French designer brand called Lollipops  and I worked there for nearly 1 year. Currently, I am working as a buyer for Shanghai Envols, where I have been for the past 4 years.
My work experience is mainly related to Retail and Merchandising. For example, part of my work at Envols is that I am in charge of going to Italy to purchase the company’s supply of various brands such as Emporio Armani and Armani Jeans. Aside from this, my daily work is basically divided into three parts, which are allocation, OTB, and some supporting work such as employee training, event management, new product launches, and VIP customer experience.
I think that when it comes buying, it can sometimes be difficult to balance. On the one hand, you have to respect the budget requirements and buying costs, but on the other you also have to think about current market trends and whether certain products will do well. This usually means that you have to be very organized and be able to juggle many different tasks at the same time while also dealing with a tight schedule.
