Vocabulary
Numb- When you can’t really feel anything
e.g. When you go to the dentist, they first have to make you numb.
e.g. Sichuan food has a lot of Sichuan pepper, it makes your mouth go numb.
vs
Spicy- A feeling we get from tasting spicy food, the feeling is sometimes painful.
e.g. Chongqing hotpot is much spicier than Chengdu hot pot, because it has more chilis.
Admitted- When you are given entry to a program or university or other.
e.g. I was admitted into Harvard but the tuition was too expensive.
Network- A group of people you know who can help you with things.
e.g. I have a very big network of friends in Hong Kong who helped me get a job.
Medical Anthropology – The study of human culture and medical practice or other medical issues.
e.g. Arthur Kleinman is one of medical anthropology’s most famous figures.

Epidemiology- The study of disease transmission rates and occurrences.
e.g. A big part of Public Health focuses on epidemiology.
Epidemic- When many people get sick with a same disease at the same time.
e.g. Hong Kong experience a bird flu epidemic in 2004.
