Writing exercise

Write about when your husband proposed to you. Focus on sequence and grammar.

On a normal Saturday afternoon, my boyfriend asked me out to watch the new “Captain America†movie, which was little strange because he wasn’t a fan of superhero movie and usually I was the one who bought the tickets. But I didn’t think much and thought that it was a normal date. Even when we ran into my high school friend on our way to the cinema, I just said hi to her and thought how coincident it was. We were a bit late, and when we finally seated, the film had already started. I quite enjoyed the film despite that my boyfriend left his seat third times for water, ice-cream and bathroom. When I was waiting for the bonus scene at the end, the screen suddenly went black. In a second, my favorite cartoon bear showed up on it and then a video made of our photos was playing. I realized what was happening at once, but I still didn’t know what to do until his sister came leading me to the stage and then I saw all my friends and his family were there. He came to me with a big bouquet and a microphone. He said that meeting me is the luckiest thing in his life. It was like playing a claw machine and he finally got the one he want. My husband proposed to me in a quite unexpected way.

I think my husband is very thoughtful of it. He planned this a few weeks ahead and secretly called my friends to be there and he tried very hard to keep me in the dark/out of the loop. Although it wasn’t the proposal I had imagined, I really like his way of doing it.
