brittle: weak, easy to break
ie. Allys want to color/dye her hair again, but her hair is already too brittle.

ie. (adj) Lily is flirty.

flirt (v and n) : tiao qing  (not that serious)
ie. Lily is such a flirt. Lily flirts with lots of people.

fattening: easy to make people fat (adj)
ie. Fattening food usually taste better.

fate: destiny (n)
ie. I already know my final(adj) fate.

contrast: dui bi (n)
ie. The pronunciation of Chinese vowels and that of English ones has a big contrast.

grime: leftover sticky stuff  (adj) grimy
ie. Lily always leaves her grimy coffee cups on the table.

Grammar

speak vs talk vs say vs use
– speak + language/volume….  (action)
ie. Can you speak a little louder? speak up a little bit? <> keep your voice down?
– say + meaning + opinion  / idea
ie. What are you saying? -> what do you mean?
– talk = communicate
ie. I just wanna talk with you. ( I wanna speak with you -> I have something to tell you *one way*)
– use +grammar (logic)
ie. I want to use longer sentences.
