Getting old might not be something thatā€™s yetĀ to cross your mind. ButĀ agingĀ is inevitably goingĀ to get the better of usĀ one day, so itā€™s something Iā€™m sure weā€™d all like to control. It would be great to have a long, healthy and happy life, and thatā€™s why scientists are constantly seeking out evidence that will show us what we need to do to achieveĀ longevity.

We all know that regular exercise is good for us. In recent years weā€™ve been told to aim to walk 10,000 steps a day to remain healthy, although other advice to do threeĀ briskĀ 10-minute walks a day is thought to be even moreĀ effective. But the latest piece of research might putĀ a spring in your stepĀ if youā€™re someone who walks at aĀ fast pace. Thatā€™s because, according to scientists, the speed at which people walk in their 40s is a sign of how much theirĀ brains, as well as their bodies, are ageing.
