Vocabulary

Strike – when employees stop working because they are unsatisfied with their working conditions.

e.g. The workers went on strike because their company’s working conditions were unsafe.

Equator – The line in the middle of the Earth separating the northern and Southern Hemispheres.

Reverse – to go backwards.

e.g. I had to revers the car to get in to the parking space.

Sanitary – referring to cleanliness

e.g. I do not want to use that bathroom because it does not look very sanitary.

Altitude -another word for height

e.g. The altitude of the mountain is 1.2 km

Grave yard – a place where the dead are buried

Trainer – a physical instructor at the gym

Steep – Referring to incline

e.g. The mountain is very steep, and it is dangerous to drive up it.

I went to Iceland 1 years ago, and we signed in (went) ice skating. To me it’s not quite usual (common) to see ice in Shanghai, and I was surrounded by the ice.
