rumor – something people say. that may be true, but is usually not. “There is a rumor about Yao Ming, that he is really Japanese.”

rating (n) rate (v) – how good or how popular something is eg: “This computer has the highest rating out of all laptops.” “Smart English has a good rating, because students really enjoy the classes here.” “My favorite restaurant has a good rating, because they definitely make delicious food.”

1-10 eg: “Rate your school from 1 to 10, 10 being the best, and 1 being the worst.” “I would rate my school a 7.”

to make up something – 1. if you missed something, and you can do it later instead.”I was sick yesterday, so I will make up my test today.”

to make something up – 2. to think of or create a new idea. “He asked me to sing a song, but I didn’t know any, so I just made one up.”  “I don’t know how to cook, so the other day I made some cuisine up.”

What are you up to? (right now, or a specified time) eg: “I’m just hanging out with some friends.” What are you up to after class? I’m gonna go to dinner with my family.”

What have you been up to?  (from before until now) I was at the club with my friends.

How’ve you been? How you been? (from before until now) I’ve been good, but really busy.

What were you up to (a specified time) last weekend? (before only) I was on vacation last weekend.
