J: Great, I’ll go order that for you and get your OJ. Would you like to hear our lunch specials?

S: No, because I know what I want. / Sure, ok. / Yes! What are the specials today? / What are they?

J: We have a seafood lasagna with crab, lobster, and scallops (shan bei) for $15. Do you have any food allergies?

S: No, I don’t, everything is ok. That sounds very good.

J: Would you like to try our special?

S: Yes!

J: Great, I’ll go put that in the computer/ I’ll go tell the kitchen/chef (shef)/cooks. I’ll be right back with your OJ.

[John comes back with OJ]


Asking for recommendations

J: Here’s your juice. I ordered your salad, it should be ready soon. Do you have any questions about the menu? / Do you know what you would like to order?

S:Do you have any recommendations?

J: My favorite dish is the penne pasta with garlic cream sauce.

S: I hate penne. I’d like the lasagna please.

J: Oh, sorry to hear that. Ok, Great, good selection! I’ll go put that in the computer/ I’ll go tell the kitchen/chef (shef)/cooks.

[John returns with the small salad]

J: Here’s your salad. Would you like any fresh ground pepper?

S: Yes, I need a little.

J: Ok, tell me when. / tell me when to stop.
