Wrap:  a meal that is wrapped in a tortilla.

 

Tortilla (tore – tee – ya): the flour or corn food that is used in Mexican cooking and for wraps. 

 

Taco:  open, and the fillings spill out. (hard shell or soft shell)

 

Burrito:  wrapped tightly closed.

Nachos:  corn chips with cheese and meat and salsa… (popular to share among westerners).

Cheese plate:  a way to eat a lot of different kinds of cheese and sometimes nuts and bread/fruit.

Cold cuts plate:  a plate with different meats on it.

Avocado:  vegetable/fruit that is green with a large pit inside.

Sauces/dipping sauces/condiments

 

Lasagna (laz – awn – ya):  layered big pasta noodles with cheese and meat. 

 

Parmesan (par – mez – an) (par – mez – zhan) cheese:  white cheese that is added on top of pasta/Italian food. 

 

Filet mignon:  a cut of beef, expensive because there’s not much on each cow. 

 

Slider(s): a mini cheeseburger/ or a mini sandwich. 

 

Hummus:  a Mediterranean dip made of chick peas, to dip veggies/bread.  Sometimes it’s used as a sauce for a burger/wrap.

 

Pita:  Mediterranean/Greek bread.

 

Toast:  lightly cook/bake.
