Vocabulary

a scam, to scam – a way to trick people, usually to give you money

e.g. We just read an article about criminals who scam old ladies.

to pose as – to pretend to be

e.g. When my brother was younger, he liked to put on one of my dresses so he could pose as a girl.

conman – someone who cons people, who tricks them (usually for money)

e.g. Conmen are trying to scam old ladies into giving them money.

to outweigh – to be more important

e.g. The emotional damage often outweighs the financial loss with scams like the love scam.

For example, some scam group opened near the market. Because many old peoples go to market to buy vegetables every day. These people are easily to attract by some big sale or some small gift. So, this group will send they some eggs or some gifts and attract them. This group organised many kinds of activities and someone in the group pretended they good friend of these old peoples, so these old peoples are willing to tell story to communicate with them. To tell everything in their family or int heir emotion, then through their activities, that group try to persuade the old people to buy some products and promote. Many older people are hard to spend money on other things, they like to save money but they are willing to buy these products.

So, this group of scammers will send them some eggs or some other gifts to attract them. This group has been organising many kinds of activities. Someone in the group pretended he was a good friend of these old people, so these old people were willing to tell stories to communicate with them. To tell them about everything concerning their family or their personal emotions, then through their activities, that group tried to persuade the old people to buy some of their products. Many older people dont like to spend money on things, they like to save money but they are willing to buy these products.
