Vocabulary

fuel (n) -energy source for engines eg: “Jet fuel is much more powerful than car fuel.” “Car fuel is called gasoline in the USA.” “We will deliver fuel to our customers tomorrow.”

gas – air, 02, co2 eg: “We breathe gas, breathing in oxygen(o2) and breathing out carbon dioxide(co2).

gasoline (n)(USA) – fuel for cars and trucks eg: “The price of gasoline is always changing.”

Petrol (n)(Europe) – fuel for cars and trucks “European fuel stations sell petrol.”

refill (v) when something is empty we add more of it again to make it full. eg: “When the tankers are low they will call us and we will deliver it to them soon to refill their tanks.”

crude oil – the black oil, found naturally in the earth

refine (v)- to make more pure(clean) by removing unwanted things eg: “Oil must be refined before we can use it in cars.”

refinery – the place where you take crude oil and make it into fuel eg: “Crude oil comes into the refinery, and fuel come out.”

tanker – a truck with a large tank for transporting liquid or gas. eg: “Every day we send out tankers to deliver fuel.”
