Homework

Pick a graph or chart that is relevant to you and write a description of it, explaining how the data was collected and what the conclusions are.

Vocabulary

Emphasis (n): 1-  the particular importance or attention that is given to something.
E.g.: I think we should put as much emphasis on preventing disease as we do on curing it.

Statistics (n): 1- a collection of numerical facts or measurements, as about people, business conditions, or weather. 2- 统计
E.g.: The statistics show that, in general, women live longer than men.

Sample (n): 1-  a small amount of something that shows you what the rest is or should be like.
E.g.: For the survey, picked a random sample of the population.

Bias (n): 1- the action of supporting or opposing a particular person or thing in an unfair way, because of allowing personal opinions to influence your judgment.
E.g.: The senator has accused the media of bias.

Partial (adj): 1- influenced by the fact that you personally prefer or approve of something, so that you do not judge fairly.
E.g.: The reporting in the papers is entirely partial and makes no attempt to be objective.

Impartial (adj): 1- not supporting any of the sides involved in an argument.
E.g.: Reporters must be impartial and not show political bias.

Grammar

Writing exercise

Prepare a team for a meeting through email, tell the team what they need to prepare and what the meeting will be about (min. 10 lines).

Dear all,

I’m happy to tell you all that the client is interested in our proposal.
However, the client gave some feedbacks on the proposal.
So, I would like to hold a meeting to discuss the adjustments of the proposal.
I think we should do some preparations before the meeting, in order to make our meeting more efficient
Some preparations’’ suggestions as followings:.
To do some marketing research and clarify the information provided by client. ——By account team
To collect more relevant idea cases.——By creative team
To draft a media communication plan.——By Media Team

Dear all,

I’m happy to tell you that the client is interested in our proposal. However, they gave us some feedback on it, so, I would like to hold a meeting to discuss the adjustments we should make. In order to make our meeting more efficient, I think we should make some preparations beforehand:

  • The Account Team should do some market research in order to clarify the information provided by the client.
  • The Creative Team should collect more relevant cases for reference.
  • The Media Team should draft a media communication plan.
  • The Data Analysis Team should collect relevant market data.

Would you be available to have the meeting tomorrow morning?
