The historical significance of the Dragon Boat Festival（LilyL）
The Dragon Boat Festival ,one of the four Chinese traditional festival, are celebrated in lunar 5th, May every year. There are various opinions about it’s origin, but one of the ideas are most popular in china, which it is in memory of a patriotic officer QuYuan from Cu dynasty. According to the folk legend, QuYuan was a patriotic senior officer ,who tried his best to reform his week country and sent many suggestions to the emperor. But unfortunately , he was slandered by other senior officers for touching their interests and finally expelled to a remote district by the emperor. Later, Cu dynasty are broke through by the enemy. In the same day ,QuYuan jump into the MiLuo river while he hear this sorrowful news.
After knowing QuYuan’ death, the ancient people get together, went boating to the MiLuo river, to save him and throwing rice-pudding into river for avoiding the fishes eating QuYuan’s body.From then on , people holds dragon boat race and eats rice-pudding in every lunar 5th may to memory a patriotic officer QuYuan.
