Dear Dr. Christopher Glass,

My name is Yan You. Now I am a PhD student in the Department of Pharmacology , School of Pharmacy, Fudan University.
I know you are a specialist in the field of macrophage gene expression and function. You have done great work on the mechanisms by which sequence-specific transcription factors, co-activators and co-repressors regulate the development and function of macrophages. My research direction fits perfectly with yours. In the past several years, I have been working on inflammation-associated diseases, especially the roles of SNX10 in macrophage-mediated inflammatory response. Now I have acquired a myriad of molecular biological techniques, including primary cell culture , PCR, quantitative Real-time, protein extraction(nuclear, surface), Western Blot, Immunostaining, Immunoprecipitation, ELISA, dual-luciferase reporter and elegant animal skills etc.
I dream of becoming a scientist, and the efforts made in these years are only a beginning. There is still much to do. Now, acquiring more training in the field of cellular and molecular biology in an esteemed laboratory is extremely important. I would like to know whether you have a plan on employing post-doc. I sincerely hope to contribute my bit to pursue a better future of your lab.
Attached please find my curriculum vitae. If you require any further information, please contact me by e-mail: yanyou1990@126.com.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Best regards,
Yan You

My aim is at becoming a scientist, and I know that there’s a lot more I need to do to achieve that, and that the efforts I’ve made so far are only a beginning. Now, acquiring more training in the field of cellular and molecular biology in an esteemed laboratory would be extremely important for that pursuit, so I would like to know whether you plan on employing post-doc. If so, I would like you to consider me as a candidate, as I believe I can contribute to the future of your lab.

Please find my curriculum vitae attached for your review and consideration. If you require any further information, please contact me by e-mail: yanyou1990@126.com.
