Who we are?
We are the first official house in mainland China. We are the KiKi House of Kawakubo, founded by Irina Milan in November 2018 and currently have seven members.

In the fall of 2016, Irina Milan came to China, and since then, members have gradually gathered to learn and progress together,. Then we formed the “Shanghai Vogue Crew”

Today, we have grown up together for more than two years, from the original “Shanghai Irina Vogue Crew” into a real vogue house. Members include all kinds of artist, professional dancers, stylists, makeup artists, programmers, botanists…etc

We are the promoters of voguing culture in China .We’ve all come together here to pursue the art and beauty of life, under the name “Kawakubo,” and we go on together.

What is the House?

House originated in harlem in the mid-to-late last century, when LGBTQ people suffered discrimination, especially people of color and sexual minorities from third world countries.

Even so, they are filled with a desire for fashion, beauty and glory in their hearts. So they held an underground Activity and called it a “Ball”, in which people can released themselves to be who they really are or who they want to be, and displayed their posture in different styles. At the same time, some influential people in the community culture began to create their own family, namely House. They adopted many homeless sexual minority children, lived together, cared for each other, and won honor for the family in Ball together.

So far, many houses and their members have flourished in the dance and fashion industries all around the world, such as House of LaBeija (the first house in history, founded in 1969), House of Ninja (1982), House of Milan (1989), House of Xtravaganza (1982), and so on.

House is divided into Major (mainstream) and Kiki (underground). A person can only belong to one mainstream house and one underground house at the same time.

What is the a House?

At the same time, some influential people in the community culture began to create their own family, namely the House. They adopted many homeless sexual minority children, lived together, cared for each other, and won honor for the family in Ball together. [Without more explanation, I’m not sure what this phrase means, but it is clear that their actions as a House are honorable from the previous elements in the sentence. If you want to talk about winning prizes at walking events, then I would make a new sentence, because that seems to be a more individual thing. Bring this sentence to class if you want to discuss it in more detail.]
