Every three years, an art festive is held on some islands in the SetoNaikai Inland Sea of Japan. Comparing with others popular cities in Japan such as Tokyo, Osaka and Hokkaido, SetoNaikai islands are peace and quiet. They had been seriously polluted by heavy industry before a few decades ago. It could have been an abandoned place due to its pollution. Then, a famous architect, Ando Tadao, made them alive. He designed an amazing Museum on one of the islands called Naoshima. After that, more than hundreds of Artists and designers followed him to create design works spread all over these fabulous islands. SetoNaikai was given a second chance at life. Thousands of travelers visit there to see exhibitions, live in local residents’ houses, tastes fresh sea foods. I was one of them.

SetoNaikai islands become my favorite place in Japan. If you want to arrive there, that is not easy. First, we need to fly to the city nearby. Then take shuttle to the port, waiting for a steamship. The nearest island costs at least 30 minutes. Since there’re not many tourists, fights and ships are rarely. We should be strict about the time schedule.

Since there’re not many tourists, fights and ships are rare so tourists need to plan accordingly.
