Teaching online has its pros and cons.
On the one hand, it has opened a new window for my teaching career. Among all the benefits I get from online teaching, two are most prominent. First, by recording and saving my teaching videos on computer, I am able to observe the way I teach. Surely it was uncomfortable at first, because I was unused to hearing my voice from the videos. However, once I got accustomed to it, I would focus on my performance in teaching. Undoubtedly, it is one of the most efficient ways to improve my teaching skills, because my problems in teaching are easily detected before special attention is paid to them in later classes. Second, by using diverse online teaching aids, students are more likely to get concentrated. Recommended teaching aids are various painting applications and NetEase cloud music.

On the other hand, however, online teaching has shut those old windows of benefits once available in physical classrooms. First, instead of making one-to-all interactions, I am restricted to make one-to-one interactions, or my earphones will be overwhelmed by students’ screams. But these one-to-one interactions can lead to a new problem: students who are not being talked to are easily distracted, especially when they are not being supervised by an adult. Second, giving classes in front of a screen instead of in flesh increases the distance between me and my students. The quote “Action speaks louder than words” also works in teaching. By giving lessons face to face, I can not only remind my students of their absent-mindedness by, saying, walking towards them, but also forge a bond with my students through class activities.
