Writing exercise

I watched a movie yesterday. Its name is Bad Genius, which is referred a real case of cheating in a big international examination in APAC region in 2014.

I think most people have experience of cheating in a test in school, maybe you cheat it for your classmates, or for yourself, or just know it is happening. I have a unforgettable experience of cheating in a test as I studying in my school. It was a math test, and I didnā€™t know the answer for the last question. I asked my classmate Sharon, who sat next to me for the help. She was my good friend, too. She wrote all answer steps on draft paper and passed that to me. Unfortunately, the teacher found it. After the test, teacher requested us to write confession letter, Iā€™ve forgotten what I wrote for my cheating, but only remember I wrote that ā€œplease do not blame Sharon for it, if I were her, I would do the same thing for my friend.ā€ Our teacher was in a huge anger for my saying as she read that. I couldnā€™t understand why she was so angry at that moment, because I thought that only was my fault. I didnā€™t think cheating was very serious.

Now, I still think that is my fault, not my friends. But I realized the cheating is very serious in terms of the movie. Bad Genius is not educational movie, it doesnā€™t judge anyone in the movie either. We even feel sorry for the main characters in the movie since we have a legit reason to forgive them. That also lead us thinking further about the educational system and justice.

I watched a movie yesterday called Bad Genius, which is based on a true story about cheating in a big international exam in APAC region in 2014.

I think most people have experiences of cheating on a test in school, maybe you cheated for your classmates, or for yourself, or you just know it happens. I have an unforgettable experience of cheating on a test when I was I studying at (my) school. I was taking a math test, and I didnā€™t know the answer for the last question. I asked my classmate, Sharon, who sat next to me for help. She was my good friend, too. She wrote all the steps to the answer on draft paper and passed that to me. Unfortunately, the teacherĀ caught us. / found it. After the test,Ā the teacher commanded/requested us to write confession letters, Iā€™ve forgotten what I wrote butĀ I only remember (that) I wrote ā€œplease do not blame Sharon for it, if I were her, I would do the same thing for my friend.ā€ Our teacher was furious as she read what I wrote. I couldnā€™t understand why she was so angry at that moment, because I thought thatĀ it only was my fault. I didnā€™t think cheating was very serious.

Now, I still think that was my fault, not my friend’s. But I realized cheating is very serious in terms of the movie. Bad Genius is notĀ an educational movie, it doesnā€™t judge anyone in the movie either. We even feel sorry for the main characters in the movie since we have a legit reason to forgive them. That also leads usĀ to think further about the educational system and justice.
