I freaked out when I realized you’ll never be my girlfriend. Are you…..crying? You’ve never asked me out. You’ve never said you like me or …..even let me hold your hand all this time.
–Well, let me get it off my chest. Here’s what happened, I always worry if I tell you that actually I am 5 years older than you, you will freak out and escape from me right away.
–What’s the big deal! 24 years doesn’t stop the French presidential couple. 6 years is just a piece of cake.

–Well, let me get this off my chest. Here’s what happened, I always worried that if I told you that I am actually 5 years older than you, you will freak out and run away/leave me/skip town (very native).
