[Today, the hot news is United Airlines(UA) violently removed an Asian customer from a flight because they needed to follow the overbooking rules. UA overbooked their flight and asked 4 passengers to leave with the compensation of $400/person, but no one wanted to leave and wait foranother flight the next day even when UA increased the compensation to $800/person. In the end, UA said they chose 4 passengers randomly with the computer. The Asian customer, refused to leave and said he needed to go home to do a surgery on/for his patient tomorrow. Bystanders took/recorded the video, in which UA security dragged him on the floor to exit the plane, and other passengers blamed the security for assaulting this Asian customer.]

The public were angry after the video exposed, they criticized what UA did to that Asian passenger, and got backlashed in terms of the speech by UA CEO afterwards.

On my Wechat moments, the video was forwarded frequently and widely, and people expressed their anger to UA. I was angry with it at the beginning. However, it made me remember another news we heard 2 days ago. A woman had a furious quarrel with a man because of car driving. In the video, the woman was abusing that man always. Most people criticized that she was so rude and ill breeding. However, the story was changed next day, people were told the truth why she was so angry to abuse him. People who criticized her turned to him. Though the woman coped with it with inappropriate way, the man was cunning and he took advantage of people’s anger, he hid the truth.

Now we know whatever right UA has, he was wrong definitely. But both news arises me to think. On the contemporary, the press report what they want the public to know, but not the truth. Many press like to attract the attention from the public, but are blinded by the truth. They are being lost the credibility. I think we need keep sensible to such news, and question them. Try to hear different voices and dig the truth if we’d like to know it. Anyway, try not to be impacted by the emotion, be objective and do not parrot. We need fairness but we need justice more.

Most people criticized that she was so rude and ill-bred. However, the story was changed the next day, people were told the truth about why she was so angry and abused him.
