Have you ever been on social media and seen your favourite celebrity talking about a product? These endorsements might not be totally random, and are actually seen as a vital part of the marketing process. The question is: How do social media influencers ‘influence’ what you buy?

Human desire for status and making friends, combined with our need to belong to a group, make us susceptible to being ‘socially influenced’. Companies often use that desire to have a similar lifestyle to a celebrity we admire to hawk or launch a product. So, what do these endorsements actually do?

Vocabulary

hawk (v.) – to sell sth. informally
i.e. When I go to the farmers’ market, people are always hawking their products.

Tell me about your most memorable travel experience

I think it’s just last year, I went to Italy with my best friend, Jill. This is the second I go abroad, the first time was US. So but it was the first I went to Eu, It was super nice. the hotel were all very amazing and the food were very excellent. i was there for like 10 days, so everyday we have different view . The ocean, the city, and countryside. the most famous food was pizza, we had a very local food. people are very friendly.

I think it was last year/ last year’s experience was the most memorable it’s just last year, I went to Italy with my best friend, Jill. This was is the second time I went go abroad, the first time was US. So but it was the first time I went to Europe. It was incredible/beyond imagination/It was a dream come true. It was super nice. The hotels were all very amazing and the food were all/much/extremely very excellent. I was there for like 10 days, so everyday we got to see/got to experience have different views . The ocean, the city, and the countryside. the most famous food was pizza, we tried/had different kinds of local food/ we got to explore the different tastes of the country. we had a very local food. people are very friendly. people were real angles there.
