Writing exercise

There are many traditional customs in China, some of them make me feel wonderful, while some of them make me feel very weird.
I have a friend who lived in weird rules in my eyes. First of all, her parents must choose everything for her. When she was a child, her parents said’ you are a child, you don’t know what is really good for you.’ So they choose her hobbies, her major and college. When she graduated, her parents choose a job for her. Even they choose her friends. And I know most parents are like her parents in China.
Second, because she is used to her parents arranging everything, she can’t do anything she likes and she doesn’t know what she likes. She can’t make any relationship, so she still single. At this time, her parents said ‘you are thirty, now you must choose a guy who has a good job and a house , you are old, you must married, or you will alone all your life.”
This is a very normal example in china. Maybe most Chinese people are very conservative, they are not willing to try and will not let their children try, but I think this is really weird , because children do not have their own life.
There are many other weird rules like this, for example, you can’t disagree your boss, you want to please your child’s teacher, you must be first in the exam, you must go to college, and so on. If you don’t do that in China, people will think you’re weird.

Revised

There are many traditional customs in China, some of them make me feel wonderful whereas some of them make me feel very weird.
I have a friend who must abide to certain weird rules in my eyes. First of all, her parents must decide on everything for her. When she was a child, her parents said ” you are a child, you don’t know what is really good for you.’ So they picked her hobbies, her major and college for her. When she graduated, her parents chose a job for her. They even picked her friends for her. And I know most of the parents are like her parents in China.
Secondly, since she is used to her parents arranging everything for her,she can’t do anything she likes and she doesn’t know what she likes. She hasn’t dated yet, so she is still single. Now her parents said ‘you are thirty, now you must find a guy who has a good job and a house , you are old, you must get married, or you will be alone for all your life.”
This is a very normal phenomenon in China. Maybe most Chinese people are very conservative, they are not willing to try and will not let their children try, but I think this is really weird , because children do not have their own life.
There are many other weird rules like this, for example, you can’t disagree with your boss, you want to please your child’s teacher, you must get the best mark in the exams, you must go to college, and so on. If you don’t do these in China, people will think you’re weird.
