I’m really busy recently for my work. If I go there, I usually take about 50 mins from my company to here. I need to take another 50 mins from here to my home. The time for transportation is really long and almost twice time than the class. I also think 50 mins is not enough, maybe two classes for me to have enough time to talk and get feedback. It depends on the arrangement by Judy. Usually I think she can’t arrange two classes together, because the resource of teacher is limited here. I was introduced by Cassie, she has a language school which is teaching Chinese for the foreign students. We have cooperate with this school for many years, because we have a lot of foreign staffs in our company. When they come to China, we will arrange Chinese lesson for them, we send students to their school. We only provide the first 48 hours Chinese lessons which can help them to reach the survival level. For the half year, the total cost for each one is about 10,000. They don’t need to go their school, the teacher will come to our company to teach them. They are easy to hire the Chinese teachers.

The teacher’s pronunciation usually affect the students a lot, especially for the children.Yesterday we have a half year review with management trainee, one management trainee come from a small city in JS province. His pronunciation is very strange, we have to keep calm when he speaks English. His boss is an Indian. When he learned English, maybe his teacher pronunciation is not standard which influence him a lot. For Chinese people, it’s easy to get what he says. When I just graduate from university, I joined a lot of interview. Chinese interviews will ask you a lot of questions by English, it’s really easy for me to understand what they express. Usually you will join the second round interview with the foreigner, if the foreigner is not native speak for English, it will very difficult for me to understand. They can understand me, but I can’t understand and I need to ask them repeat again and again. My boss is Chinese people, but she become Australian many years ago.

Recently I need to talk to the Indian guy often because I support their department for the HR related issues. I had a lot of opportunity to talk with this guy. Sometimes by email, usually we talk by phone. Sometimes he comes to my seat and asks a lot of questions. It’s the first time it’s really difficult for me to understand. Now maybe I can understand 70% because I think he knows in China, most of the employee can’t understand his Indian pronunciation. So he changed a lot. Two months, an Indian lady come to Shanghai to join a training, we had dinner together, she sit aside me, on the left of me, I can’t understand any word of her. She refuse any Chinese food, and she only ate fruit. Maybe she feels Chinese food is not clean.
