I have been an English teacher —> I have been working as an English teacher

I don’t think I am worse than other students —> I think I’m just as qualified as other students

combine my knowledge and my own teaching —> combine my knowledge with my own teaching experience 

that’s why I can find my shortcomings easier —> that’s why I can more easily see find/have become more aware of my own shortcomings.
