Q: How do you feel about the lawyer getting away with rape? Do you feel that our children should be more protected from abuse? What more can we do?

A: But what interests me more are how the public reacted to this incident. I think this incident is an epitome of all similar social incidents happened nowadays. Usually with something outrageous, people started to pay attention to this. But somehow, because… people were unconsciously waiting for twist in this incident. For example, in this case, some people starting to speculate that this girl was trying to take advantage.. she’s one of the gold-diggers. She knew what she was doing, and she did it voluntarily. I think some people who rooted for the victim in the beginning felt very frustrated when they found out that she wasn’t as perfect as they expected her to be…so they stopped following this incident. This is probably what most events would be like. We are forever shielded from the truth, but meanwhile we’re expecting for justice. People who care about this, people who have a distaste for evilness for crimes, shouldn’t get frustrated, shouldn’t lose their faith in these social events. I think the right way to do this is we get even more concerned with this issue, even after all the twists. The twists shouldn’t discourage us from seeking the truth. It should encourage us to seek the truth.

Usually with something outrageous like this breaks out, people start to pay attention to it right away/it stirs up controversy in social media … online right away. But somehow, because people knew that there would be evidences thrown out/yet to be uncovered/revealed, people were unconsciously waiting for twist in this incident. For example, in this case, some people were starting to speculate that this girl was trying to take advantage.. she’s one of the gold-diggers. She knew what she was doing, and she did it voluntarily/with her own agenda. I think some people who rooted for the victim in the beginning felt very frustrated when they found out that she wasn’t as perfect as they expected her to be, or as they wanted her to be…so they stopped following this incident. This is probably how most events would proceed. We are forever shielded from the truth, but meanwhile we’re always expecting justice. People who care about this, people who resent evil or crimes/cry out in face of evil conducts/acts and crimes, shouldn’t get frustrated, shouldn’t lose faith/lose faith in justice/our justice system/the law.  I think the right way to do this is we get even more involved with these issues, even after all the twists. Even if the victim isn’t the perfect victim, and the story isn’t like we expected, … The twists shouldn’t discourage us from seeking the truth. It should encourage us more.

As petty as it might seem, this incident, nevertheless, is revealing. It shows the extent to which regional discrimination permeates out thinking, shaping the way we converse and engage with other people. In this case, regionalism escalated the tension and wiped out any possibility of reasoning and understanding between these two ladies. But its abusive consequences does not stop here. Also visible in job recruitment posts and school enrollment requirements, it is potentially a huge cause of social instability and division.
